Adrift in the Reeds

Adrift in the Reeds captures the experience of drifting through wetlands. I layered my subject and reeds in‑camera as a double exposure. The ethereal image invites us to feel at one with fragile aquatic ecosystems.

Bird Watcher

I shot my child’s profile and a leafy branch with birds, then merged them in camera via double exposure. The birds nestled in the foliage turn the silhouette into a quiet watch post that invites us to slow down and notice.

Candy Road

Couple of Pines

Here two slender pines rest inside a jar. Using in‑camera double exposure, I photographed the jar and then layered the trees, allowing them to lean toward one another. The minimal composition feels intimate and speaks of companionship.

First Frost

First Frost layers frost crystals over hands. Made with external software, this digital composite draws on film‑inspired techniques. It evokes early winter and reminds us how climate shifts alter delicate patterns of frost.

Frosted Back

Frosted Back overlays frost on a human back. This digital composite made with external software gave me control over texture. It hints at our fragility in cold ecosystems and our need to respect nature’s cycles.

Old Tjikko

This piece holds the venerable Old Tjikko inside a mason jar. I shot the jar and tree separately on film and layered them in‑camera using analog double exposure. The monochrome palette adds a muted, dreamlike mood—my way of preserving an ancient tree in glass.

Pine Forest

I wanted to compress an entire pine forest into a bottle. I photographed the jar and then overlaid a dense Finnish forest via in-camera double exposure. The mood is dark and introspective, as if you’re holding a private woodland.

Reed

To make Jarred Reed I stood on a rocky outcrop and captured the empty jar before layering a bed of reeds in a second exposure on film. The in‑camera process means the slender stems fill the glass organically, creating a delicate, lyrical mood.

Resting Butterfly

Resting Butterfly shows a butterfly resting in a hand. I used external software to blend my images. This digital composite merges portraiture with nature, highlighting the fragility of pollinators and our responsibility to protect them.
